Rose Hill Foods, a trusted name in the food industry since 1983, foresaw the need to complement its successful line of dehydrated soup bases, sauces and seasonings by introducing a division and a new range of premium products that would expand and improve their flavour portfolio. This division came to be known as The Original 86 Food Company.
The idea for the name Original 86 is based on Delmonico’s Restaurant, the first luxury restaurant in New York, which for almost 100 years defined “haute cuisine” in North America. Urban myth often says that the steak was item number 86 on the menu and because it was so popular, the expression “86” was used by the staff to signify that the item was sold out.
The Original 86 Food Company draws its inspiration from the hard working chefs that once worked the kitchen brigade at Delmonico’s and all the great chefs of our time and their attention to detail and use of quality ingredients. Original 86 was established in order to offer premium culinary solutions to food industry professionals who require products that offer ease of use without compromising the quality of their signature creations.
